Features of the Latin-English-Ukrainian Translation of Anatomical Terms-Metaphores with the Modifier – the Name of the Receptacle

Abstract

У статті розглянуто особливості латинсько-англійсько-українського перекладу анатомічних метафоричних термінів із модифікатором – назвою вмістилища. Матеріалом дослідження слугували Terminologia Anatomica та видання «Міжнародна анатомічна термінологія». Проаналізовано перекладацькі трансформації та встановлено, що у більшості випадків зберігається характер образності метафоричних бінарм. Результати дослідження можуть бути використані у викладанні теорії перекладу та медичної термінології. The article analyzes the peculiarities of the Latin-English-Ukrainian translation of anatomical metaphorical terms with the modifier – the name of the receptacle. The study is based on Terminologia Anatomica and the edition «International Anatomical Terminology». It is established that in most cases metaphorical binaries are translated preserving their figurative character. The results may be applied in translation studies and teaching medical terminology.
